Head of Global Compliance

Humanoid is the first AI and robotics company in the UK, creating the world’s most advanced, reliable, commercially scalable, and safe humanoid robots. Our first humanoid robot HMND 01 is a next-gen labour automation unit, providing highly efficient services across various use cases, starting with industrial applications.

We are looking for a Robotic Test Engineer to join our team based in Vancouver, CA.

Our Mission

At Humanoid we strive to create the world’s leading, commercially scalable, safe, and advanced humanoid robots that seamlessly integrate into daily life and amplify human capacity.

Vision

In a world where artificial intelligence opens up new horizons, our faith in its potential unveils a new outlook where, together, humans and machines build a new future filled with knowledge, inspiration, and incredible discoveries. The development of a functional humanoid robot underpins an era of abundance and well-being where poverty will disappear, and people will be able to choose what they want to do. We believe that providing a universal basic income will eventually be a true evolution of our civilization.

Solution

As the demands on our built environment rise, labour shortages loom. With the world’s workforce increasingly moving away from undesirable tasks, the manufacturing, construction, and logistics industries critical to our daily lives are left exposed. By deploying our general-purpose humanoid robots in environments deemed hazardous or monotonous, we envision a future where human well-being is safeguarded while closing the gaps in critical global labour needs.

About the Role

As Head of Compliance, you will design and implement a proactive, risk-aligned compliance strategy that supports the business at all stages – from product development through to international deployment. You’ll provide leadership across safety certification, data governance, export controls, and regulatory readiness.

This is a strategic and hands-on role that spans robotics regulation, trade compliance, AI/data policy, and product assurance. You’ll partner with teams across engineering, supply chain, product, legal, and leadership to help the business navigate complexity while maintaining speed and flexibility.

  • Support the executive team with clear visibility into compliance posture, risks, and mitigation plans
  • Maintain an internal compliance framework covering policies, training, controls, and reporting
  • Lead audit readiness, internal reviews, and documentation management across regulated functions
  • Product, Engineering & Safety Compliance
  • Drive global product compliance strategy, including CE/UKCA marking, machine safety standards, and third-party certification
  • Stay ahead of evolving global standards related to humanoid robotics, autonomous systems, and human-robot interaction (e.g. EU AI Act, safety of collaborative robotics, functional safety norms)
  • Support engineering teams with compliance input into design, development, and validation activities
  • Develop frameworks for continuous compliance as products scale across geographies
  • Data & Information Governance
  • Collaborate with security and data teams to establish internal controls aligned with global data privacy and governance standards (e.g. GDPR, UK DPA)
  • Define and manage policies for data collection, storage, and usage – including training data, logs, video, and telemetry – across all operational and R&D systems
  • Enable auditability, consent management, and appropriate cross-border data transfer controls
  • Trade, Export & Supply Chain Compliance
  • Manage global trade compliance, including export classifications, dual-use controls, and licensing (e.g. EAR, ITAR, UK Export Control)
  • Partner with supply chain and legal to develop controls for supplier compliance, including ethical sourcing, conflict materials, and regulatory risk exposure
  • Develop controls to manage exposure in key markets and geographies across our go-to-market footprint
  • Global Regulatory Enablement
  • Provide compliance leadership for go-to-market activities across the UK/EU, USA, MENA, and other strategic regions
  • Stay ahead of evolving standards and requirements that could impact product deployment or operational execution
  • Build relationships with external advisors, regulators, and certification bodies where appropriate
  • Support geographic expansion with region-specific frameworks and documentation
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Act as the central point of contact for compliance-related inquiries, issues, and incident response
  • Lead investigations into compliance issues and support incident response where needed
  • Embed compliance requirements and culture into high-velocity product and engineering workflows
  • Translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into scalable internal processes and tools
  • Support contract negotiation and due diligence from a regulatory and export control perspective
  • Track global regulatory developments that may impact business operations and readiness

We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, legal, or product safety functions within complex, high-tech businesses
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance domains relevant to robotics, AI, hardware/software systems, and data
  • Experience supporting compliance across international markets (UK/EU, US, MENA or others)
  • Ability to translate complex legal/regulatory concepts into practical, actionable internal processes
  • Experience supporting early- or mid-stage product companies through rapid scale-up and geographic expansion
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to influence engineering, commercial, and executive stakeholders
  • Systems-level thinker who thrives in ambiguity and builds from first principles
  • Bonus Points
  • Prior experience with robotics, medical devices, industrial automation, or AI/ML compliance
  • Familiarity with ISO 13849, IEC 60204, CE/UKCA/UL/FCC pathways, or similar standards
  • Background in dual-use classification, export licensing, and supply chain trade compliance
  • Experience working with regulators and certification bodies (e.g. BSI, TÜV, Notified Bodies)
  • Background in law, engineering, product safety, or audit

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary plus participation in our Stock Option Plan.
  • Work mode: office full time, Paddington district (London) – 5 min walk from Paddington station – 5 Merchant Sq, London W2 1AY
  • Paid vacations.
  • Travel opportunities to our Vancouver and Boston offices.

  • Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives
  • Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics
  • Startup culture prioritizing speed, transparency, and minimal bureaucracy.
